DUBAI: Cristiano Ronaldo is expanding his ambitions beyond football following reports that the Al-Nassr star is producing and appearing in a new television drama about the world of football agents.
According to The Sun, the Portuguese forward has teamed up with “Kingsman†director Matthew Vaughn on “Day 1s,†a series centered on fictional football agent Stanley Dalton, played by Damian Lewis.
The show, based on an original idea by football agent Darren Dein, has already begun filming in London. It will reportedly feature appearances from football legend Thierry Henry and British rapper Dave.
Ronaldo will serve as both executive producer and on-screen talent. The project marks the first television series from UR-Marv Studios, the production company he launched with Vaughn last year as an offshoot of the filmmaker's Marv Studios.
UR-Marv previously announced it had completed two sports films and said the venture aimed to combine traditional storytelling with innovative technology. According to Deadline, “Day 1s†is being independently financed by the studio.
Vaughn is best known for directing films, which include “Layer Cake,†“X-Men: First Class†and the “Kingsman†franchise.
The television venture comes as Ronaldo begins to look beyond his playing career. The 41-year-old, who plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, saw his World Cup career come to an end after Portugal were eliminated by eventual champions Spain in the round of 16.
Widely regarded as one of football's greatest players, Ronaldo enjoyed trophy-laden spells with Real Madrid and Manchester United before moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
