Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are among the players to have responded to Tyler Fredricson’s surprise transfer exit being confirmed

Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo are among the Manchester United stars to have sent well wishes to Tyler Fredricson after his permanent transfer to Lausanne-Sport was confirmed. The 21-year-old’s switch was announced on Thursday and arguably came out of nowhere.

Fredricson has signed a three-year deal with the Swiss Club and has since issued an emotional statement on his time at United. On Instagram, he said: “After 11 years it's my time to say goodbye to Manchester United. I want to thank every coach, player, staff member and the incredible fans for supporting me throughout my journey.

“Wearing this badge and representing this club has been a dream come true and will always be something I am very proud of. Thank you for everything. Once a red. Always a red.”

United players were quick to wish him luck for the future with Patrick Dorgu, Fernandes, Maguire and Leny Yoro stating: “All the best.” Kobbie Mainoo, who came through the academy with Fredricson, later added: “Gonna miss you bro.”

Tyler Fletcher, Ethan Wheatley, Radek Vitek and Jack Fletcher also replied to his Instagram post with new signing Kit Margetson and former player Rhys Bennett also wishing him well.

Later in the afternoon, Shea Lacey and Joe Hugill sent messages to Fredricson having both spent time with him in United’s youth ranks.

Fredricson made four appearances for United’s senior team with three of those in the Premier League and one coming last season against Newcastle United. Despite that, United had quite the statement for his departure with the defender having spent over a decade at the club.

Part of their announcement read: “Tyler Fredricson has agreed a permanent transfer to Lausanne-Sport, subject to registration.

“A lifelong Red from south Manchester, he worked diligently while proudly rising through the ranks of our world-famous youth system.

“The 21-year-old played in every round of our 2022 FA Youth Cup campaign as the side reached the final, before illness prevented him from playing in the showpiece occasion against Nottingham Forest.

“Everybody at United thanks Tyler for all his efforts during his time with the club and we wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
