Man Utd’s pre-season is beginning to step up a level and four more senior players will be back at Carrington this week.
Manchester United will welcome back four more senior players to Carrington for pre-season this week, including club captain Bruno Fernandes.
United’s pre-season is work beginning to step up a level and having had a relatively similar group to work with across the first three games of the summer, Michael Carrick’s ranks will be strengthened over the next few days.
Belgian duo Senne Lammens and Youri Tielemans returned earlier than expected at the end of last week and will join in training from today (Monday).
They will be joined this week by Portuguese duo Diogo Dalot and Fernandes, Noussair Mazraoui of Morocco and Brazil’s Matheus Cunha, with the quartet set to return after a break following their respective exits from the World Cup.
Brazil went out of the tournament on July 5 after losing to Norway in the last-16, while Portugal exited a day later when losing to Spain at the same stage of the competition. Mazraoui’s tournament came to an end three days later when Morocco were beaten by France in the quarter-finals.
Since heading out of the World Cup, Fernandes has turned his attentions back to club duties. He has posted on social media that he has watched all three friendlies so far, against Wrexham, Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid.
The level steps up again for United this week, with a trip to Gothenburg on Saturday to face back-to-back Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.
After that, United will head straight to Ireland for a training camp and during that week the three players who reached the final week of the World Cup are set to return.
Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are set to be back amongst the group that week and Martinez and Mainoo are both thought to be fit despite picking up minor injuries at the end of the tournament. Mainoo was ruled out of the bronze medal match with a back injury and Martinez was forced off in the final as Argentina lost to Spain.
