Adeyemi 8th, Silva 3rd – The biggest bargains of the summer transfer window (so far)

Each summer transfer window seems to promise larger and larger transfer fees, as the bills clubs rack up over the course of the transfer window seemingly spiral out of control. Footballers have never been more expensive. However, that's not to say that bargains can't be had, and in a number of cases, some of the best players in the world have swapped one club for another for a mere fraction of their real market value. So which clubs have so far picked up the best bargains of the summer transfer window? Let's take a look.

When we compare the market value of each player that has moved clubs this summer to the transfer fee paid for said player, we can use the difference between the two figures to show how much money the buying club potentially saved on the player. Unsurprisingly, the players at the top of this list are big-name signings that moved clubs on a free transfer. As we can see, the biggest bargain of the summer window thus far is undoubtedly Ibrahima Konaté's free transfer from Liverpool to Real Madrid. Due to his market value of €45 million, there's little doubt that the LaLiga giants are getting a top-tier defender for little more than a sign-on fee. Three other free transfers then follow Konaté at the top of the list: Marcos Senesi and Harry Wilson's moves to Tottenham and Leeds United were both for €25m less than their market value, while Bernardo Silva's move to Madrid sits fourth due to his free transfer and €22m market value.

Below the top four are several players who did move for transfer fees, albeit ones that are well below their market values. The best example of this is Donyell Malen, who sits fifth in the list due to his market value of €45m and transfer fee to Roma of €25m. Alongside the Dutch forward is Bilal El Kannouss, who made a €15m move from Leicester City to Stuttgart, despite having a market value of €35m. Malang Sarr sits alongside the aforementioned duo, due to his free transfer to Saudi Arabia, as does Karim Adeyemi, whose €18m transfer to Barcelona was €20m less than his market value at Borussia Dortmund. The rest of the top 10 is then made up of two players whose moves were for €18m less than their market values: Jakub Kiwior's €17m move from Arsenal to Porto and Óscar Mingueza's free transfer from Celta Vigo to Crystal Palace.
